The Diva’s Guide to Summer Travel

Hey divas! Summer is upon us, so that means it’s time to get out of dodge. After months of planning your epic vacation, make sure you’re able to maximize every possible moment. And while novice travelers may think a vacation starts the moment you step off the plane, true divas know it starts MUCH earlier. Refresh your packing/travel knowledge with a look at the Diva’s Guide to Summer Travel.

Pack Smartly

Mixing and matching your essential items (e.g., maxi dresses, jumpsuits, etc.) allows you to create different looks with minimal packing. Maximize your looks by packing a few more accessories versus clothing items. Necklaces and earrings are MUCH easier to pack than a bulky top.

Lighten Up (Makeup)

travel makeupLet’s be honest, as good as a full face of makeup looks in photos, no likes it when it slides

down their face under the hot sun. If you’re heading out to the beach, opt for a little concealer under the eyes and a dab of tinted bronzer or blush. These few makeup must-haves not only pack well, but they also save you time/effort while giving you a gorgeous sun-kissed finish.

Spring for TSA Pre-Check

I know you’ve heard the recent headlines about long security checkpoint wait times travel passport
at U.S.-based airports. Save some time (and your sanity) by signing up for TSA Pre-Check. The $85 non-refundable application fee pays for itself when you can breeze to the front of the security line. Remember, divas don’t stand in line…ha.

Find a Photo Buddy

travel photo of sunsetWhile we all love a good selfie, it’s important that you have lots of full length photos to remember your epic vacation. Not only do we want to watch the gorgeous sunset but also need to see that divalicious outfit..ha ha. The best way to make sure you’re not on the selfie end of the camera this vacation is to enlist the help of a photo buddy. A photo buddy is a friend of family member who can ‘buddy’ up with you to share the responsibility of capturing awesome vacation photos. Nothing’s worse than seeing a great photo opportunity with no one to take it.

I hope these tips help you make the most out of your vacation! Do you have a few more to share? Leave your favorite packing or summer travel tips in the comment section below. Safe travels!

  1. Great tips! I recently went on a trip to Chicago and each of us played a part as a photo buddy. With our iphones we created a shared album and were able to upload all of our photos to this shared album at the end of the day. It made the experience so wonderful to see different people’s perspectives caught through the camera.

I also love your tip about packing more pieces of jewelry to dress up an outfit rather than packing a separate outfit. That is something I will definitely have to keep in mind on my next trip.

    1. Thanks for stopping by my blog, Lauren! Creating a shared album is a GREAT idea. You should definitely try the jewelry tip…it’s truly freed up a lot of wasted luggage space! I hope you have a wonderful summer!
