For some of you, the jumpsuit trend has held a special place in your heart since the electric era of the 1970s. If you’ve been holding on to that last piece of vintage clothing, you’re in luck! The jumpsuit trend has come back this spring and summer, as evidenced by recent runway looks from Marc Jacobs, Chloe and Balmain.

If you still have yours from the 70s, run to your closet and rejoice. For the rest of us who didn’t experience the awesomeness of this trend firsthand, stay tuned as I share a few reasons why you should add a jumpsuit to your wardrobe rotation.

Figure Flattering

TTYA X LTS JumpsuitJumpsuits are flattering for nearly every body shape. While the cut may vary between straight leg, gathered cuff or wide leg (shown here), all are sure to elongate your legs for maximum sexiness. In my opinion, a solid print is more flattering on curvier shapes because it gives you a very fluid look. Don’t get me wrong—I’ve definitely worn a patterned version but opted to wear it with a blazer or wide belt to complement the look.

Versatile

Depending on the fabric and cut, a jumpsuit can be worn as either a casual or formal outfit. Denim and other lightweight fabrics bring a comfortable ease to casual styling. On the other hand, heavy cottons, silks and polyester blends allow you to spice up the look with a cute pair of heels and minimal accessories. When you rock a jumpsuit, you’re sure to get back a few extra minutes of sleep in the morning. It’s truly a no assembly-required type of garment.
